Restricted Domains and Registration Rules for .TR Domains
The fact that TRABIS took over the .tr domain management and that many of the .tr domains are now undocumented has greatly increased the popularity of the .tr domain extension.
Domains containing Turkish – Turkey – Atatürk – TC
“Turkey”, “Turkey”, “Ataturk”, “Atatürk”, “Turk”, “Turkish”, “Republic of Turkey”, “Republic of Turkey”, “T.C.” It is essential that the names and derivatives and the like of these names be allocated under the sub-domain name ".gov.tr". The eligibility of the applicant for the applications made within the scope of sub-domain names other than “gov.tr” for these names is determined as a result of the evaluation made by the Authority regarding whether the domain name in question will be used for public interest.
Province and District Domains
City - province names in Turkey are allocated to governorships under the sub-domain ".gov.tr". The name of each district is allocated to the district governorships under the ".gov.tr" sub-domain. In case of more than one request for city or district names, domain registration is made in accordance with the "first come, first served" rule.
The eligibility of the applicant is determined by the Institute as a result of the evaluation made on whether the domain name in question will be used for public interest, in the applications made within the scope of sub-domain names other than “gov.tr” for the names of provinces and districts.
It is essential that domain names containing the full names of public institutions in DETSIS or their abbreviations known to the public should be allocated only to the relevant public institution. In applications made by parties other than the institutions in question, the eligibility of the application is determined as a result of the evaluation made by the Authority.
Domain names containing the names of investment institutions authorized by the CMB can only be allocated to the said institutions.
Domain names containing the names of the following organizations, which are authorized by the BRSA, can only be allocated to these organizations:
a) Banks,
b) Financial leasing companies,
c) Factoring companies,
ç) Financing companies,
d) Financial holding company,
e) Asset management companies,
f) Representative offices of foreign banks in Turkey,
g) Organizations Granted Operating Permit within the Scope of the Debit Cards and Credit Law No. 5654.
(7) domain names containing the words “finance”, “finance”, “financing”, “bank”, “bank”, “lease”, “leasing”, “financial leasing”, “factoring” and “factoring” It is essential to allocate it to the organizations specified in the and sixth paragraphs. In applications made by parties other than the institutions in question, the eligibility of the application is determined as a result of the evaluation made by the Authority.
